Picture of Wolf In Snow
Volunteer Text

The Wild Canid Center volunteer positions give participants the opportunity to learn about wolves and their place in the natural world. Your service to the wolf truly helps ensure the survival of this misunderstood member of the dog family. Those who wish to volunteer their services must become members of the WCSRC, and attend an orientation meeting. Those who are interested in conducting educational programs must successfully complete an additional training course to become Naturalists. Additionally, a minimum number of service and/or education hours are required from each volunteer on an annual basis in order to retain Active status.

As participants in the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Mexican Gray and Red Wolf Recovery Programs, the Wolf Sanctuary's long range goal is to breed and return these endangered animals to the wild. Therefore, as a matter of security, no volunteer activities involve direct contact with wolves.

The following descriptions of volunteer niches at the Wild Canid Center cannot cover all of the talents and expertise which will be needed in the course of the organization's growth and expansion. There is opportunity here for almost anyone who is truly committed to the welfare of the wolf.
