Visit The Wild Canid CenterText

If you plan on coming to the St. Louis area, or you already live nearby, come visit us! We are open to the public throughout the year (by appointment only) except for the month of May, some holidays and selected veterinary days. Visits may be scheduled between 9 AM and 5 PM daily. Because of our focus on the breeding of rare and endangered wolves, tour dates must be scheduled around breeding, whelping, and pup-rearing seasons.

We offer two options for your daytime visit to the WCSRC: a Tour or a Program/Tour combination. The fees go directly towards caring for the endangered species of wolves housed at the WCSRC, and are subject to change without notice.

The Program/Tour combination gives schools, scouts, other private groups, families and individuals the opportunity to learn about wolves and to observe them in a natural setting. It begins with an indoor Program presented by a trained Docent. The Program lasts Santos Picture approximately one hour and consists of a film and/or slide show, a short lecture, and a question-and-answer period. The lecture is usually based on a discovery box that contains items illustrating the characteristics and adaptations of the wolf (such as pelts, paw prints, skulls, and radio collars). This Program is followed by a Tour of the enclosures that also lasts approximately one hour.

The one hour Tour can be scheduled without the introductory Program. Depending upon our current holdings, you will have an opportunity to see Mexican Gray Wolves (the most endangered wolf in the world), Red Wolves (once native to Missouri), Maned Wolves of South America and our newest edition of Swift Foxes.  You may bring cameras and binoculars. The Tour is a 1/2 mile round trip by foot, so dress accordingly!

On these days individuals, couples, and families may visit without paying the minimum group fee- $65 for a Program/Tour or $45 for a Tour only.

Open Date Tours are held every Saturday excluding the month of May, 1-2 PM. The fee is $6 per person.

Open Date Program/Tour combinations are also held every Saturday, excluding the month of May, 10 AM to 12 PM. The fee is $8 per person.

Reservations should be made in advance by calling the WCSRC Education Department at 636.938.5900.

Youth, school or private groups of ten or more may schedule a private visit. Mexican gray pictures We recommend groups of less than fifty. We require that one adult accompany each ten school-age children or four pre-schoolers.
